Southern States Cooperative and Pfizer Animal Health partner to donate $7,552 to FFA chapters
More than $3.6 million donated nationally through program since 2008
MADISON, N.J. — Jan. 20, 2012 — This spring, Southern States Cooperative partnered with Pfizer Animal Health to contribute $7,552 to offer added support for numerous FFA chapters. Contributing to FFA chapters help the many locations and employees of Southern States stay close to their agricultural roots.
“We’ve been farmer owned since 1929 and will continue to work closely with FFA,” says Jessica Lohman, Southern States Cooperative marketing manager. “A very large majority of our corporate, retail and field staff employees were involved in FFA at some point, so it is important that we stay in tune with the agriculture industry.”
One of the nation’s largest farmers cooperative, Southern States provided support through the Pfizer Animal Health FFA Support Program. Participating veterinarians and retail partners were able to direct the funds from a portion of their purchases of select Pfizer Animal Health cattle products to any local FFA chapter(s) or the American Association of Bovine Practitioners (AABP) Foundation – Pfizer Animal Health Veterinary Student Scholarship Fund. Since its inception in 2008, the total amount donated through the FFA and AABP Foundation Support Program nationwide has been more than $3.6 million.
Since the retail chain runs along the East Coast and into parts of Kentucky and Alabama, Southern States designated the contributions go to FFA chapters throughout its coverage area. The FFA chapters used the funds to help support scholarships, leadership activities, travel to FFA competitions and much more.
“The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education,” says Lori Randle, National FFA Foundation regional director. “Donations like this make it possible for developing the potential in FFA members at the local level.”
