Zoetis Receives FDA Approval for Revolution® Plus, a Next-Generation 6-in-1 Parasite Preventative for Cats and Kittens

  • Revolution Plus (selamectin and sarolaner topical solution) builds upon proven 20-year legacy of feline Revolution (selamectin)
  • Broadens the scope of protection against fleas, ticks, ear mites, roundworms, hookworms, and heartworms* for cats and kittens as young as eight weeks of age

PARSIPPANY, N.J. – Nov. 29, 2018Zoetis today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Revolution® Plus (selamectin and sarolaner topical solution), a new combination topical product providing 6-in-1 parasite protection against fleas, ticks (Black-legged or deer tick, Gulf Coast tick, and American dog tick), ear mites, roundworms, hookworms and heartworms for cats and kittens as young as eight weeks of age and weighing 2.8 pounds or greater. Revolution Plus combines the proven broad-spectrum protection of selamectin with the advanced flea- and tick-killing power of sarolaner. This first-of-its-kind, next-generation product exemplifies Zoetis’ dedication to innovation in parasiticides and builds upon the 20-year trusted legacy of feline Revolution, which veterinarians have consistently made the number one prescribed parasiticide for cats.1

“Broad-spectrum parasite protection is important to consider for every cat of every lifestyle, every month. Revolution Plus will provide the protection both indoor and outdoor cats need,” said Gary Norsworthy, DVM, DABVP (Feline), Alamo Feline Health Center, San Antonio, Texas.** “With this unique product from Zoetis, veterinarians can now provide higher-quality care with one monthly topical dose, giving pet owners peace of mind, while protecting cats and kittens from a wide range of external and internal pests.”

Revolution Plus is a simple-to-apply, quick-drying, small-volume topical solution administered once monthly. It kills fleas before they can lay eggs, kills ticks for a full month and is proven safe for cats and kittens as young as eight weeks of age.

“With the approval of Revolution Plus, veterinarians, practice staff and pet owners can further enhance the special bond between cats and their human families by addressing the threat of ticks without sacrificing the broad-spectrum effectiveness they expect and trust from feline Revolution,” said Tara Bidgood, DVM, PhD, Diplomate ACVCP, Executive Director, Veterinary Professional Services, Zoetis Petcare. “By adding sarolaner to selamectin, we have produced an innovative combination product with a broad endo- and ectoparasiticide spectrum for cats and kittens. This is one more example of Zoetis’ commitment to providing next-generation products and solutions to veterinarians, enabling them to provide the best prevention and treatment options for pets.”

Zoetis expects Revolution Plus to start shipping to customers in early 2019.
