DECCOX®

For the prevention of coccidiosis in ruminating and nonruminating calves and cattle caused by Eimeria bovis and E. zuernii

DECCOX® is a nonantibiotic medication fed in starter programs to prevent coccidiosis, a disease that threatens newly arrived cattle that often have a compromised immune system. DECCOX can be fed in combination with AUREOMYCIN® to provide respiratory disease therapy. When DECCOX is fed in combination with AUREOMYCIN, a veterinary feed directive is required. DECCOX also can be fed in combination with Rumensin® and with Rumensin + Tylan®.

    • Developed specifically for coccidiosis
    • A nonantibiotic anticoccidial
    • Effective in preventing coccidiosis by stopping the development of coccidia early in the life cycle
    • Reduces treatment costs and performance losses associated with clinical outbreaks
    • The only anticoccidial medication approved for use in veal calves
    • Versatile applications in dairy (milk replacer, complete feeds) and beef operations (top dress and complete feeds)
    • Approved for use in combination with AUREOMYCIN® to provide respiratory treatment and coccidiosis prevention. When DECCOX® is fed in combination with AUREOMYCIN, a veterinary feed directive is required.

  • DECCOX®-L (Type B Medicated Feed)

Mix 5.7 to 40 pounds. DECCOX-L with nonmedicated feed ingredients to manufacture one ton of complete Type C medicated feed or milk replacer containing 12.9 to 90.8 grams decoquinate as in the examples below:

The resulting Type C medicated feed or milk replacer should be fed for at least 28 days during periods of exposure to coccidiosis or when it is likely to be a hazard. The concentration of decoquinate in the final Type C feed or milk replacer will vary with body weight and feed consumption to provide 22.7 mg per 100 pounds of body weight (0.5 mg/kg) per day.

    DECCOX (Type A Medicated Article)

Thoroughly mix DECCOX into the ration at a rate to provide decoquinate at a daily dose of 22.7 mg/100 lb. (0.5 mg/kg) of body weight. Feed for at least 28 days during periods of coccidiosis exposure or when experience indicates that coccidiosis is likely to be a hazard. Coccidiostats are not indicated for use in adult animals due to continuous previous exposure.

The following formula can be used to calculate the amount of DECCOX (6% decoquinate) to be included in one ton of feed to provide the daily dosage of 22.7 mg decoquinate per 100 pounds body weight.

      Avg. weight of individual
      animal to be medicated
    x 454

      Avg. pounds of medicated
      feed per animal, per day
    x 27,200
      = lb. DECCOX to be
      added per ton feed

    Note:
Mix DECCOX in a ratio of 1:9 with ground grain prior to adding it to the mixer

Mix DECCOX Type B Medicated Feed with nonmedicated feed ingredients to manufacture one ton of complete feed sufficient to provide 22.7 mg/100 pounds body weight. The table below provides examples of mixing rates per 100 lbs. body weight that may be used based on feed consumptions.

Feed for at least 28 days during periods of coccidiosis exposure or when it is likely to be a hazard. Complete feeds should be consumed within seven days of manufacture.

Provide plenty of fresh, clean water at all times.

For the prevention of coccidiosis in ruminating and nonruminating calves (including veal calves) and cattle caused by Eimeria bovis and E. zuernii. Feed 22.7 mg/100 lb. of body weight (0.5 mg/kg).

    DECCOX®-L (Type B Medicated Feed)

Each pound of supplement contains 2271 mg of decoquinate. Before feeding, mix with feed at the rate of 1 part supplement with 9 parts feed as shown in the following table.
