Veterinary Feed Directive (VFD)

Cattle

Effective Jan. 1, 2017, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations will require veterinary oversight for the all medically important human antibiotics, including AUREOMYCIN® and AUREO S 700®, used in animal rations. At Zoetis, we're committed to helping you make a smooth transition to the new VFD requirements when using medicated feed additives for cattle.

HOW WILL VFD REQUIREMENTS IMPACT YOU?

Producers with a valid veterinarian-client-patient relationship (VCPR), as defined by state regulation, will see little difference beyond needing a VFD from your veterinarian to:

  • Incorporate AUREOMYCIN in feed products for calves, beef and nonlactating dairy cattle
  • Request AUREO S 700 in a ration
