Histophilus Somni Bacterin

For vaccination of healthy cattle and calves as an aid in preventing disease caused by Histophilus somni (Haemophilus somnus). Somubac consists of inactivated, standardized cultures of Histophilus adjuvanted with aluminum hydroxide.

  • Uses

    Aids in the prevention of disease caused by Histophilus somni (Haemophilus somnus).

    Key Features

    • Helps protect calves and adult cattle against H. somni, a contributor to respiratory disease and the cause of thrombotic meningoencephalitis (TEME) and reproductive tract infection.
    • Contains three inactivated H. somni isolates – from respiratory, reproductive and nervous tissue.
    • Subcutaneous (SC) dose is 2 mL, followed by a second dose two to four weeks later.
    • Annual revaccination with a single dose is recommended.
  • Directions: Shake well before using. Administer a single 2-mL dose two to four weeks later. In accordance with Beef Quality Assurance guidelines, this product should be administered subcutaneously (SC) under the skin. Annual revaccination with a single dose is recommended.


    10- and 50-dose vials.

  • Precautions

    Store at 2°–7°C. Do not freeze. Use entire contents when first opened. Sterilized syringes and needles should be used to administer this vaccine. Do not vaccinate within 21 days before slaughter.
