CLAVAMOX®

(amoxicillin / clavulanic acid)

Unique dual mode of action provides broad spectrum coverage

CLAVAMOX is the only potentiated penicillin approved for veterinary use in dogs and cats. CLAVAMOX combines the broad-spectrum antibiotic activity of amoxicillin with unique β-lactamase-inhibiting effect of clavulanic acid for powerful, broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity.

Dogs:

  • Skin and soft tissue infections such as wounds, abscesses, cellulitis, superficial/juvenile and deep pyoderma due to susceptible strains of the following organisms: β-lactamase producing Staphylococcus aureus, non-β-lactamase-producing Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., and Escherchia coli.
  • Periodontal infections due to susceptible strains of both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria.

Cats:

  • Skin and soft tissue infections such as wounds, abscesses, cellulitis/dermatitis due to susceptible strains of the following organisms: β-lactamase producing Staphylococcus aureus, non-β-lactamase-producing Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Escherchia coli, and Pasteurella spp.
  • Urinary tract infections (cystitis) due to susceptible strains of Escherchia coli.

CLAVAMOX Drops:
15 mL bottle containing 50 mg amoxicillin/12.5 mg clavulanic acid per mL.

CLAVAMOX Tablets:
Each carton holds 15 strips with 14 tablets per strip (210 tablets per carton) in the following strengths:
62.5 mg tablet — for use in dogs and cats
125 mg tablet — for use in dogs only
250 mg tablet — for use in dogs only
375 mg tablet — for use in dogs only

    • Combines broad-spectrum antibiotic activity of amoxicillin with unique β-lactamase-inhibiting effect of clavulanic acid, which extends the antibacterial spectrum to include β-lactamase-producing organisms.
    • Has activity against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative aerobic and anaerobic bacteria.
    • Effective in treating skin infections in dogs and cats, periodontal infections in dogs, and urinary tract infections in cats.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION:

People with known hypersensitivity to penicillin or cephalosporins should avoid exposure to CLAVAMOX. Do not use in animals with a history of allergic reactions to penicillins or cephalosporins.
