Centrol™ is a precise blend of sodium and potassium hydroxide approved for use by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) as a pH booster to return chiller pH to a neutral level.

  • Ingredients: Centrol contains water, sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide.


    Appearance Clear, colorless to light opaque liquid
    pH (10% vol solution) >13
    Specific gravity at 25ºC 1.42
    Solubility Very soluble in water

  • Use: Centrol is approved by the USDA for use as a pH control agent to maintain a target pH in water used for poultry processing.2

    Handling: Please use the following instructions for safe handling:

    • Use with adequate ventilation.
    • Avoid breathing in vapor or mist.
    • When handling, use appropriate personal protective equipment.
    • Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing.

  • Chemical incompatibility: Avoid contact with acids. Avoid contact with aluminum, copper, zinc and brass.

    Material compatibility: Equipment, such as dip tanks and spray cabinets, should be compatible with corrosive chemicals (sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide).

    Metals: Once Centrol has been diluted to working pH levels, it is recommended for use with:

    • Stainless steel type 316

    Plastics: Centrol, both concentrate and diluted forms, is recommended for use with:

    • Polypropylene (PP)
    • Polyethylene (PE)
    • Polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
    • Chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC)
    • Teflon® (PTFE)
    • Neoprene
  • Storage Recommendations:

    • Store in a cool, well-ventilated, dry area.
    • Keep containers tightly closed when not in use.
    • Shelf life of 3 years when stored properly.

    Packaging: Centrol is available in the following:

    • 55-gallon poly drum
    • 322-gallon tote (IBC)

    Product Weight: Centrol is 11.8 lb./gal. / 20.5 kg/L

    DOT Classification: Centrol is classified as UN3266, corrosive liquid, basic, inorganic, n.o.s. (sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide), 8, PG II.
